Most coaches have only ever coached. Bernard built the thing, from a plant nursery floor to a factory doing 200 tons a day, and now he helps owners do the same.
Bernard Powell left school at 16 and started out in a plant nursery. Over the next 23 years he built multiple multi-million-dollar businesses, including a manufacturing company he grew from zero to 200 tons a day with 75 staff.
His own arc is the proof. He went from 70 to 80 hour weeks and under a million in revenue, to 30 to 40 hour weeks running a business doing $21M a year. He has done over $150M in personal sales, wrote The Sales Success Playbook, and has coached more than 1,000 owners around the world.
His mission is simple. Free one million business owners from their small business prison.
Twenty-three years of building real businesses, under real pressure, with a real payroll to meet every week.
Bernard left school at 16 and learned business from the ground up, on the floor, not in a classroom.
He grew a manufacturing company from nothing to 200 tons of output a day with 75 staff, and got invited twice onto the global Lean tours that businesses fly across the world to study.
His business was named a New Zealand Best Workplace, proof that a high-performance company and a great place to work are the same thing when the systems are right.
Recognised for service excellence, the result of building a business that runs on standards instead of the owner chasing every problem.
Chosen twice for the AME Global Lean Culture Tours, where international operators come to study how the business runs.
Bernard now runs The Business Gym, GrowthHub and BuyBackTime, coaching more than 1,000 owners across eight countries to build businesses that grow without running their lives.

That is the mission. The Business Gym is how Bernard does it, with the systems, the coaching, and a room full of owners in your corner.
